poor nurse

i guess you have heard about the poor nurse from England. it started from a prank call from radio DJs in Australia that successfully exposed the poor screening of the particular hospital where Kate, the duke of cambridge, stayed. DJs tricked a particular nurse to connect them to the ward where Kate was staying. eventually the DJs got all the supposed to be confidential information. the situation turned from bad to worse when the under fire nurse finally decided to take her own life.

but, the tragedy itself is not the worst. the worst is the reaction i read in the radio's facebook page. i could understand how hostile people have gone in their attempts to avenge the nurse's death. i also agreed that the reaction might have been a little bit too much and a bit unnecessary. it is especially true when the reason the nurse took her own life is not really that clear anyway.

however, certain comments from certain people really make me sick. they went on to say something like this.
"the prank was harmless and it was pretty funny. the nurse is an idiot to take it so serious and ended up killing herself."

i thought the comment is right in a certain way, but to label a victim, who we don't really know at all of her mental condition, as an idiot is itself an idiotic act in a totally unbelievable level.

i understand that sometimes we want to act smart and to think in a different way compared to other people. we want to show as if a certain flow of thought has not been thought by other people. i am also one of those people that sometimes want to think differently and be different from the others.

however, i realize now how stupid that is and now trying to cut it down. i believe if we try so hard and so much, one day we will not realize when we become as irritating as those commenters on facebook. perhaps, irritating is an understatement.

it is actually disgusting.
